About CPL Training

To obtain a CPL in India, a person must complete a rigorous training program that includes a minimum number of 200 flight hours, pass a series of written and practical exams, and meet various other requirements related to experience, medical fitness, and training. The training program consists of obtaining a Student Pilot License (SPL), followed by a Private Pilot License (PPL), and then the CPL. Once a pilot obtains a CPL in India, they can pursue a career as a professional pilot and work for airlines, cargo operators, charter companies, or other commercial aviation organizations. Mandatory Requirements for Pursuing Commercial Pilot License Training

 


Educational Qualification

 

The candidate should have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board.

Age

The minimum age requirement for a CPL is 18 years. However, most flight training schools require a candidate to be at least 17 years old before they can start flight training.

 

Flight Training

The candidate must complete a minimum of 200 hours of flight training, which includes at least 100 hours of solo flying, 20 hours of cross-country flying, and 10 hours of instrument flying. The flight training is conducted at a DGCA-approved flying school, which has qualified instructors, adequate infrastructure, and appropriate aircraft.

 

Ground Training

The candidate must complete ground training, which covers topics such as Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulations, and Technical subjects. Airline Prep School has imparted professional ground training to 1000+ students since its inception.

 

Written Examination

The candidate must pass the written examinations conducted by DGCA on the topics covered in ground training. The examination consists of multiple-choice questions and is conducted at designated centers.

 

Flight Training

The candidate should undergo flying training from DGCA approved FTO in India or abroad with all flight tests cleared to successfully proceed for application for a CPL. DGCA then reviews the application and issues the CPL if the candidate meets all the requirements.
